IZZY SNOW AND LULA
Lula’s story written by her owner.
“Lula is an American Staffordshire Terrier x English Bull terrier. approximately 14 months old. She was found abandoned with her litter mates and her Mum. They were all in a bad way and she and mum were to be the only two to survive.
The rescue society found Lula’s Mum a loving home and Lula was give to a friend’s Auntie. But it was soon clear that she was not going to manage and the friend took her on. Lula was destructive, very very hyper, refused to be toilet trained and had separation anxiety. Then we worked out that Lula was totally deaf.
My friend also realized that she wasn’t able to give her what she needed so after 2 homes she finally came to live with me.
With research and vet tests and time we have been able to work out that Lula had been beaten before she was 3 weeks old causing severe head trauma and resulting in 3 skull fractures. With a lot of time and patience Lula and I found our own little routine.
I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and before she came along I was in a dark place and rarely left the house. I’ve had her for 6 months now and we have made an amazing partnership. Lula lives with my 7 year old daughter and 2 cats who she gets on amazingly with. She’s the perfect family dog.
Lula is slowly learning to be my P.T.S.D support dog, and has given me the capacity to get out and about. We needed each other and I’m so proud at how far this girl has come.”
